Birding at Rueter-Hess

Are you interested in going on a birding tour to add to the list of inventoried birds, wildlife and plant life?

Click here to find out when the next opportunity is scheduled.    Current tours are organized through the Denver Field Ornithologists (DFO) - this is a limited group, but they are always looking for new people to join in!

Bird sightings have been added to "ebird". This is a citizen science project of Cornell University to track/report bird sightings all over the globe. For Douglas County, Rueter-Hess Reservoir (Restricted Access) is listed as a "hotspot". This means that a large number of birds have been reported from that location to ebird. Currently 179 species have been documented. There are bar charts available that show frequency and what time of year the species have been seen. With just a few more birds Rueter-Hess should be in the top ten for Douglas County hotspots.  Currently we are tied with Roxborough SP!
